cover of Cursed Shards anthology and mirrorTattermog is a riot of a tale that is based on the fairy tale Tatterhood, that wonderful, loud and fearless heroine who rides a goat and brandishes a wooden spoon. I mixed it up with The Giant’s Heart, W.B. Yeats’ “The Song of Wandering Aengus,” and the Scottish ballad “The Elfin Knight.” It was published in Cursed Shards: Tales of Dark Folklore in 2024 and can be purchased from IFWG Publishing.

And, since a heroine like Tattermog refuses to be confined or defined or refined, she’s been republished in 2025 by Deadset Press in Rebels and Rainbows: An Australasian Queer Speculative Anthology, which “celebrates the amazing and diverse LGBTIQA+ community.” You can buy the kindle version here.
